Upon arriving in Shimla, a representative will assist you with the transfer to Chitkul. Begin your adventurous journey to Spiti after a brief tour briefing and breakfast. Travel from Shimla to Chitkul, passing through the scenic towns of Sarahan and Rampur Bushahr into the stunning Kinnaur Valley. Follow the Sutlej River to Karcham, then turn right towards Chitkul, following the Baspa River. Chitkul, the last village before the Indo-China border, is also home to the renowned ‘Hindustan ka Akhri Dhaba,’ where you can enjoy a delicious meal. Spend the night and have dinner at a hotel or homestay in Chitkul.
After an early breakfast, you'll depart for Nako, traveling through the scenic Kinnaur Valley. Take the Indo-Tibet Highway and cross the Khab Bridge, where the Spiti and Satluj Rivers meet. Continue to Nako, the final village in the Kinnaur district. Upon arrival, complete the check-in process and head out to explore Nako. Visit the picturesque Nako Monastery, located by Nako Lake, and soak in the spiritual atmosphere as you walk through its colorful halls adorned with Buddhist scriptures (Kangyur). Later, enjoy a relaxing moment by Nako Lake, watching the water change colors as the sun sets behind the mountains. Return to the hotel for an overnight stay in Nako.
Wake up early to enjoy a beautiful sunrise and have a hearty breakfast. Hit the road and, shortly after crossing Sumdo, enter the Spiti Valley. Just 3 km past Sumdo, take a detour to the right through a gate to visit the 500-year-old mummy in Gue Village. Continue your journey to Kaza, where you can have lunch before exploring the town. Afterward, ride to the renowned Ki Monastery, nestled in a bowl-shaped valley in Langza. Then, head to the picturesque village of Kibber, known for its breathtaking landscapes and snow-capped mountains. Drive further up to the remote village of Gette for stunning aerial views of Kaza and to tie a prayer flag. Return to Kaza for an overnight stay.
Enjoy a hearty breakfast before embarking on a journey to some of the highest inhabited regions in the world. Your first stop is Komik, the highest village in Asia, translating to "eye of a snow cock." Next, head to Hikkim to visit the world's highest post office, where you might even meet the postmaster and hear his tales. After sending out postcards, drive to Langza, home to the ancient Lang Temple, estimated to be around 1000 years old. Return to Kaza for lunch, then proceed to the renowned Ki Monastery, nestled in a bowl-shaped valley. Continue to the picturesque village of Kibber, known for its breathtaking landscapes and snow-capped mountains. Visit the Chicham Bridge, Asia's highest suspended bridge spanning a 1000-foot deep gorge. Drive higher up to the remote village of Gette for stunning aerial views of Kaza and to tie a prayer flag. In the evening, return to Kaza for an overnight stay at your hotel.
After a delicious breakfast, you'll retrace your route back to Kalpa in the Kinnaur Valley. Along the way, take a brief detour to visit the charming hamlet of Dhankar and explore the impressive Dhankar Fort Monastery, perched on rocky spurs and believed to be around 1000 years old. If time allows, embark on a one-hour climb above the village to reach the stunning turquoise Dhankar Tso (Dhankar Lake), which offers breathtaking views of the valley. Continue your journey, leaving Spiti Valley behind. At Powari, turn right towards ReoKong Peo, the main town of the Kinnaur district, and proceed to Kalpa. Spend the night in Kalpa, where you can enjoy views of the majestic Kinnaur Kailash mountains. Overnight stay at a camp or homestay in Kalpa.
After breakfast at the hotel, you'll set off for Shimla, often referred to as the fruit bowl of Himachal Pradesh. Enjoy the scenic drive along winding roads, following the Satluj River and passing through lush Deodhar forests. Upon arriving in Shimla, unwind in the comfort of modern amenities, carrying with you a treasure trove of delightful memories and captivating stories.
